After making the upgrade to the latest version of OS-X, my Macintosh is no longer able to recognise my external sound card
This is not a fault with the audio device. If you are using an FCA202 firewire soundcard, we can confirm that the hardware for the FCA202 is unchanged since its release in 2005.
It appears that there may be certain technical issues associated Apple's automatic upgrade procedure for OS-X, and it may be a good idea to consult the Apple technical support department for advice before going ahead with the upgrade.
In any case, we would make the following recommendations :
1) Visit Apple.com and manually download the full combo update (200MB+) and not the smaller update which only contains the revised components of the OS (70MB+)
Important Note : Using the "software update" feature on the Mac will automatically install the smaller (70MB+) version of the update, and not the full combo.
2) Disconnect all peripherals (USB, Firewire, etc.) for the duration of the OS update.
If you have already performed the automatic update and the audio device was indeed connected during the course of the update, then please contact Apple support at
and we are certain that they can propose a simple solution to the problem.
Ganz toll. Deshalb ziehe ich auch grade das Combo Update, welches jedoch näher an den 300MB als an den 200+ dran ist.
Meine Laune ist daher auch nicht grade auf einem Höchststand...
